The Philosopher Stone is a special mushroom that is a truffle. This strain grows in the subtropical regions of Mexico, and has been found in Guatemala as well.

Usage:

Put the kit in a place of total darkness. This is very important, because the mycelium cant stand daylight! Ideal would be a constant temperature between 22 and 24 degrees C. It is possible to grow the truffles in a lower temperature, but this slows down the process of growing. A temperature that is higher than 24 degrees C is not recommended, because they might die and/or suffer from contamination. So never place the kit directly on the heating radiator.

Possible places to put the kit are: near the central heating system, on top of the refrigerator or near the ceiling in room that is heated on room temperature. Make sure the kit is in the dark, for instance in a closed carton box.

Harvest information:
The estimated harvest for a kit is 75 to 120 grams.

After a minimum of 16 weeks the philosophers stones can be harvested. The longer you wait, the larger the harvest will be. It definitely pays off to wait a bit longer before you harvest! Once the kit has been opened it has to be harvested completely to make sure there is no contamination. Never open the kit before you will actually harvest, no matter how tempting it might be!

Wash truffles after harvesting:
You can easily rub the truffles clean in a little bit of water (with a little brush for instance) and get rid of the final seeds of grass in a strainer. Then dry them of with a clean cloth and let them evaporate for a little while.

How to keep the truffles fresh:
After cleaning and evaporating, keep them in the refrigerator, for instance in a plastic box with some holes in the lid.
